K&N Pro Series West Makes Annual Visit To Sonoma

• 4 BMR Drivers Tackle Northern California Road Course

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (June 21, 2016) – Drivers in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will tackle their first road course event of the season with the Chevy’s Fresh Mex 200 at Sonoma (California) Raceway on Saturday.

The annual visit to the winding 1.99-mile track in Northern California’s wine country will feature four Bill McAnally Racing drivers who are running the full schedule this year.

Defending series champion Chris Eggleston, who finished 13th in last year’s series race at Sonoma, drives the No. 50 NAPA Filters / H2O Fire Protection Toyota Camry. The BMR team also features three talented young rookies this season – Todd Gilliland, in the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry; Riley Herbst, in the No. 19 NOS Energy Drink Toyota Camry; and Julia Landauer, in the No. 54 Curb Records Toyota Camry.

Eggleston of Erie, Colorado is coming off a win at his home track of Colorado National Speedway earlier this month. He has two wins, along with five top-five finishes and is second in the championship standings as the series heads into the sixth event on a 14-race schedule.

Gilliland, a member of the NASCAR Next program that spotlights NASCAR’s rising stars, leads the championship standings, as well as the rookie points. The 16-year-old from Sherrills Ford, North Carolina also has two wins and five top-five finishes in the first five races – including a second-place finish to Eggleston at Colorado. His father, David, and his grandfather, Butch, each have two series wins at Sonoma.

Landauer, also a member of the NASCAR Next program, finished sixth at Colorado. The 24-year-old native New Yorker who now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina is fifth in the championship standings and second in rookie points. She has two top-five and five top-10 finishes. Northern California is familiar to Landauer, who graduated from Stanford University in 2014.

Herbst, 17, of Las Vegas is coming off a 13th-place finish at Colorado. He is eighth in the championship standings and fourth in the battle for the prestigious rookie title. Herbst has one top-five and three top-10 finishes this season. Herbst, who comes from a family well known for their success in off-road racing, graduated to the K&N Pro Series this year after doing double duty as a rookie last season at Irwindale (California) Speedway – where he won the championship in the Irwindale Speed Trucks and finished fifth in the late model division.

The K&N West team haulers will enter Sonoma Raceway on Thursday. Practice sessions are slated Friday from 10:50 to 11:50 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. Series qualifying is scheduled for Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m., with the race set to go green at 1 p.m.

The Chevy’s Fresh Mex 200, which will be televised on NBCSN on June 30 at 8 p.m. PT, will mark the 27th stand-alone K&N West race at Sonoma.
