Eggleston Looks For Another Win At Colorado
• Series Veteran Knows Advantage Of Racing On Home Track
ROSEVILLE, Calif. (June 6, 2017) – Chris Eggleston knows the advantage of racing on his home track. The 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West champion – who drives the No. 99 NAPA Platinum Filters Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing – has won two of the past three series races at Colorado National Speedway, not far from his home in Erie.
He will be going for a third victory there when the series visits the 3/8-mile oval north of Denver for the NAPA/Toyota 150 on Saturday.
Although Eggleston has done well at the popular short track, he knows he faces plenty of tough competition in trying to get back to Victory Lane. Last year he and his BMR teammate, Todd Gilliland, waged a fierce battle that ended with some crinkled fenders and Eggleston coming out ahead in a 1-2 finish.
Gilliland, a member of the NASCAR Next program that spotlights NASCAR’s rising stars, went on to score six wins last year and capture the series championship as a rookie.
This season, the 17-year-old from Sherrills Ford, North Carolina is running the full schedules in both the East and West divisions of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series – driving BMR’s No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry. Gilliland is coming off a sixth-place finish at Southern California’s Orange Show Speedway. He leads the championship standings in the K&N West, with four wins, five top-five and six top-10 finishes in six races this season.
Eggleston won at Orange Show Speedway and closed to within 11 points of Gilliland in the standings. He has a string of six top-five finishes to start off his season, including two wins.
A third BMR driver is looking to challenge his teammates as he makes his first visit to CNS for K&N West action. Derek Kraus – a 15-year-old from Stratford, Wisconsin – wheels the No. 19 NAPA Belts & Hoses/Carlyle Tools Toyota Camry as a rookie on the circuit. Coming off a 16th-place finish at the Orange Show Speedway, he leads the rookie points and is third behind his teammates – as BMR drivers are 1-2-3 in the overall standings.
With Gilliland and Eggleston accounting for all the wins so far this year, BMR drivers look to continue their domination with a win at Colorado.
Eggleston is not the only BMR driver to win at Colorado National Speedway, meanwhile. BMR won three consecutive races there from 2008 to 2010, with three-time series champion Eric Holmes going to Victory Lane in 2008 and 2010 and Paulie Harraka scoring the win in 2009.
NAPA AUTO PARTS is a big part of the annual NASCAR weekend at Colorado National Speedway as the title sponsor. NAPA and NAPA Filters have a special promotion at this year’s event, providing fans with a coupon toward the purchase of a NAPA Gold Oil Filter.
NAPA activities at the track on Saturday will also include a big NAPA Hospitality, which is always a popular event at CNS. In addition, BMR will provide VIP pit tours to NAPA guests.
The NAPA/Toyota 150, which is to be televised on NBCSN on June 15 at 4 p.m. PT, is the seventh event on a 14-race series schedule. CNS has hosted 14 series events, dating back to 1995.
