Second Place Finish for the No. 20 NAPA Filters Toyota team at CNS
On the road to Iowa Speedway this week
Roseville, CA– Alberta Canada native Jaime Krzysik finished in second place in the Toyota/NAPA AUTO PARTS “150” at Colorado National Speedway Saturday night piloting the #20 NAPA Filters Toyota Camry for BMR. It was the best finish for the rookie in his NASCAR K&N Pro Series West career. He achieved this on his first ever visit to Colorado National Speedway.
Krzysik started in sixth on the field after the race was rain delayed for two hours. He jumped into fifth at lap 35 where is stayed until lap 118. He moved into fourth after passing veteran driver Greg Pursley. Ten laps later, the No. 20 NAPA Filters Toyota was up to third. There was a fierce battle for the lead in front of Krzysik during the final laps. Krzysik worked his way past Cameron Hayley and set his sights on the leader and series points leader, Derek Thorn. He took the checkered in second place making his first podium appearance in the series.
“We had a wicked, fast NAPA Filters Toyota Camry tonight,” said Krzysik. “We just made sure the car stayed together for the first 100 or so laps, kept it underneath us and the tires on it. And then during the last 30 or 40 laps, we started knocking them down. A couple more laps, I think we would have had something for Thorn. It just wasn’t meant to be. Maybe next year it can be the Toyota/NAPA AUTO PARTS 160,” Krysik added with a laugh. “Ten more laps and I think we would have had it. I can’t thank crew chief Duane Knorr and the entire team from BMR for such a great night.”
Eric Holmes holds the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West track record for the most top-ten finishes at Colorado National and added to that record. The three-time series champion from Bill McAnally Racing brought home the No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry in eighth place before a die-hard crowd of fans for the Toyota/NAPA AUTO PARTS “150”.
Race day had Holmes in the top-five of the time charts in both practices and qualified the No. 16 NAPA Toyota on the inside of row three for the NAPA/Toyota “150”. Prior to the race, Holmes and his teammate did a meet-n-greet with over 700 NAPA customers, store owners and employees in the NAPA Hospitality Village between turns one and two.
“That was some hard racing,” said Holmes. “We had some challenges with the handling of the No. 16 NAPA Toyota. The car turned good but just was loose. I want to thank all of the fans that came out and stayed through the rain delay to cheer us on. It really means a lot to all of us on the No. 16 NAPA Toyota team.”
The Toyota/NAPA AUTO PARTS “150” from Colorado National Speedway can be seen on SPEED Channel on Thursday, August 1st at noon PST. Please check your local listings.
