Mosack’s Bid for Top-10 Gets Twisted in Kansas

Venue: Kansas Speedway
FINISH: 18th
Start: 21st
Laps Led: 0
NCTS Point Standings Position: 20th
Connor Mosack had another strong bid for a top-10 run at Kansas Speedway go awry on Saturday night and finished 18th. The driver of the No. 81 MKS Pipe & Valve Co. endured getting trapped a lap down on a green flag pit cycle and a late-race spin to recover for an 18th-place finish. After nine races, Mosack resides 20th in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series standings.
Mosack took the green flag from 21st position and rapidly moved forward. He took advantage of a jumbled start to take 15th position on the opening lap and ran 13th by the first caution on lap three. Mosack joined all lead lap trucks by pitting under a lap 23 caution and advanced from 14th to 12th on a two-lap dash to close out Stage 1 by lap 30.
Mosack restarted the second stage in 12th on lap 37 and dealt with a significantly loose chassis balance. Another yellow on lap 51 allowed him the chance to pit for four tires, fuel and adjustments before ending Stage 2 in 18th on lap 60.
Crew chief Blake Bainbridge brought Mosack back to pit road for fuel and a right-side chassis adjustment during the second stage break to aid the loose condition. During the ensuing run in the final segment, Mosack pitted on lap 95 during a cycle of scheduled green flag pit stops but was trapped a lap down by an unfortunately timed caution flag. He took the “wave around” to regain his lap and restarted 18th on lap 103. After he had quickly moved to 11th by lap 108, Mosack checked up for a spin off Turn 2 but was hit from behind and spun down the backstretch. While he avoided wall contact, his MKS Pipe & Valve Co. Chevy suffered significant damage to the tail, which impacted the aerodynamic balance. Mosack ran the last 20 laps to take the checkered flag 19th and was credited with 18th following post-race technical inspection.
Connor Mosack Quote:
“We had some decent speed in our MKS Chevrolet, but we just fought loose all night. We made a bunch of adjustments though the night, but couldn’t get it secure on the short run. We were able to make some ground after about 20 laps in a run, but just lost too much on the front side every run. We’ll get back to work and hopefully we can turn it around at North Wilkesboro next weekend.”
