Road Trip to the Playoffs … Connor Mosack hopes the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series (NCTS) return to Watkins Glen International (WGI) is a road trip to a playoff berth. The driver of the No. 81 Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Chevrolet Silverado RST has excelled on the road courses in his young career and will need a marquee performance on Friday to punch his ticket to the playoffs. Mosack was a threat for victory at Lime Rock Park in June where he raced inside the top-five for a majority of the afternoon and recorded 13 stage points. The first-year wheelman has plenty of experience and success at WGI with a pair of Trans Am TA2 victories in 2021 and 2022, and looks to replicate those results with the No. 81 team on Friday.
A Certified Ringer … Some of Mosack’s best moments in his young career have come at WGI. He’s put his road racing chops to good use at WGI with a fifth-place result in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) race in 2023, a career best, and finished 15th in his first NXS start there in 2022. Mosack also owns a top-five result in the ARCA Menards Series at WGI and hopes to add a NCTS top-five finish to his road racing resume this weekend. Mosack has recorded one top-five and three top-10 results in14 NXS road course appearances and has two NCTS road course starts under his belt.
Season to Date … After 16 of 18 regular season races, Mosack is positioned 15th in the NCTS drivers’ point standings. While he is mathematically alive to point into the playoffs, Mosack will likely need a race victory to earn a playoff spot. Thus far, Mosack has tallied two top-10 results, including a season best sixth-place finish at Pocono Raceway, and his first-career pole award at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Tune In … FOX Sports 2 begins coverage from WGI on Friday with practice and qualifying at 11:30 a.m. ET, followed by the green flag at 5:00 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. Connor Mosack Quote:
On the second road course of the season at WGI:
“Watkins Glen has been a good place for me, for the most part. I’m excited to go back and have a really good feel for the track. The TA2 wins and running well in the Xfinity Series and ARCA have been good memories, so that gives me a lot of confidence in knowing what we need out of our Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Chevy this week. We know this a big opportunity for our team with two races to go, so hopefully we can take advantage of it. There’s a lot of guys in a similar scenario, so I’m sure the aggression and urgency will be ramped up. I think if we run to our potential and execute a solid afternoon, we should be able to be in position to race for the win.”
