Wood Suffers Bad Luck String at Watkins Glen

NCTS Point Standings Position: 19th
Jack Wood, driver of the No. 91 Adaptive One Chevrolet Silverado RST lined up 23rd to start the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series 72-lap event Friday evening at Watkins Glen International. On the opening lap, Wood started to gain track position by picking up a few spots to 21st. Not long after, the young driver came over his radio saying “I think the tow is knocked out” after making contact on track. The damage to this race truck forced him to fall back to 28th until a caution arose with nine laps to go in Stage One that allowed the No. 91 to come down pit road. Crew chief Josh Graham called for four tires, fuel and damage control to fix their race truck. The driver came back around under yellow to pit for a second time and quickly returned back to the field for the restart with five laps to go in the stage.
After a few more stops under the stage break for repairs, the No. 91 restarted the second stage at the tail end of the field. Wood quickly got to work, picking off spots one by one. He reported to the team that he felt he could be a little more free with 10 laps to go in the stage and with just five laps to go, the young driver was up to 24th and climbing. Shortly after, the driver’s left-front tire blew heading into the esses and sending Wood into the outside retaining wall, taking two very hard hits. The Loomis, Calif. native was able to get out of his race truck and was evaluated and released from the infield care center. This wreck ended his day early and relegated Wood to a 33rd-place finish at The Glen.
Jack Wood Quote:
“I was really looking forward to today here at Watkins Glen but it just was not our day, to say the least. I felt we had a truck with alot of potential and it’s a shame that we had to end our day early and not get to see the final result that could have been. I hate it for these 91 guys but we will pick our heads up and move on to Richmond.”
