Massey Settles for Podium Result at Shasta
Mason Massey brought the NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet for Bill McAnally Racing (BMR) home in third position in the fourth race of the ARCA Menards Series West (AMSW) season on Saturday night at Shasta Speedway. The No. 19 Chevrolet SS showed strong pace in the opening laps of the Bill Schmitt Memorial 173, for his second podium finish of the campaign.
Massey started second and led lap one before a caution on lap two slowed the early momentum. He settled into second place and remained close to the leader through the opening run establishing a gap over the rest of the field. A caution on lap 15 reset the field, as Massey maintained his position and continued to apply pressure following the Lap 23 restart. He held steady in second through the run, only giving up slight ground approaching the lap 73 break.
After the restart on lap 78, Massey continued to run second but faced increasing pressure from behind. He slipped to third with 75 laps remaining as the balance shifted deeper into the run. A caution on lap 115 and a red flag on lap 119 regrouped the field, setting up a restart on lap 127 with Massey in third.
Following a restart with 26 laps to go, he made contact with the leader entering Turn 1 while battling the front two for the lead. As the run went on, the No. 19 settled into a steady rhythm, and Massey remained firmly in contention, ultimately securing a strong third-place finish.
Mason Massey Quote:
“We had a strong NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet SS tonight at Shasta, but we just lacked drive off in the second half of the race. I’m super proud to be apart of the Bill McAnally Racing team, these guys work super hard to bring fast cars to the race track. We just have to keep digging, we’ll get them next time.”
