Daniel Hemric made a charge up the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series (NCTS) standings on Sunday morning at Charlotte Motor Speedway with an 11th-place finish and scored the fifth-most points of all competitors. The driver of the No. 19 Cloyes, Rotomaster Chevrolet Silverado RST gained three positions in the NCTS drivers points and sits ninth after 10 of 18 regular season events.

Hemric took the green flag buried 28th on the starting grid on Sunday afternoon as persistent showers throughout the weekend postponed the event, originally scheduled for Friday evening. The late start didn’t hinder Hemric as he blitzed his way forward in short order. He gained 10 positions by the race’s first caution seven laps in and cracked the top-10 on lap 19. A caution on lap 22 provided an opportunity for most of the lead lap trucks to make their first stop of the day, including Hemric who took four tires and fuel. He restarted 18th on lap 29 and ran 16th at the end of Stage 1 on lap 30.

Stage 2 went green on lap 36 as Hemric used the outside lane to instantly rocket from 16th to 12th. He cracked the top-10 by the time the caution flew again on lap 39 to continue his run towards the front. Hemric took full advantage of short run speed and restarts in the second segment and cracked the top-five on the lap 54 restart, then claimed fourth position on lap 58. He held that position to collect seven points at the end of Stage 2 on lap 60.

After pitting for four tires and fuel during the second stage caution, Hemric restarted 14th but immediately resumed his charge when the green dropped. He advanced to as high as sixth by lap 75 and ran eighth when a caution flew on lap 77, which allowed everyone to pit to reach the finish on fuel. Hemric restarted eighth on lap 83 and was seventh when the penultimate caution of the day flew at lap 99. Crew chief Kevin Bellicourt and Hemric elected to pit for fresh tires for the dash to the time-enforced conclusion. He restarted 14th and advanced to 11th before a crash near the front of the field on lap 105 brought out the final caution. Hemric crossed the finish line 11th under yellow as the field completed 110 of the 134 scheduled laps.

Daniel Hemric Quote:

“That was fun to have such a fast Cloyes, Rotomaster Chevrolet today. We made a lot of ground on restarts and our truck wrapped the bottom really well in traffic. Really proud of everyone on this team, appreciate all our partners, NAPA Auto Care, Gates Hydraulics, and it was a pleasure to have Cloyes and Rotomaster on our No. 19 truck this weekend. I feel like we made a big step forward this weekend, as a group, gained a lot of points and have a good direction for our intermediate program.”
