Dye Makes a Statement at Nashville with Top-10 Results

Venue: Nashville Superspeedway

FINISH: 10th

Start: 36th

Daniel Dye, driver of the No. 20 Champion Container Chevrolet, was able to score a spot in the show at Nashville Superspeedway for the Allegiance 200 after quick practice speeds overpowered qualifying getting cancelled due to wet weather conditions. The young driver started the rain-delayed event at the tail-end of the field but knew what he had to do to start his quest to the front and he did just that. Dye made a huge jump on the start and by the second lap he had already made his way to 28th after starting 36th. With 18 laps to go in the first stage, he was already up 12 spots and settled for a 22nd-place Stage One finish. The Daytona Beach, Fla. native reported to his team that was laterally free and just needed some more grip. Crew chief Dewey Townsend called the No. 20 down pit road for four tires, fuel and a slight trackbar adjustment to help the handling on his race truck.

Restarting in the 19th position, the field started to turn into chaos and the yellow flags started to fall, one after another. With 20 laps to go in Stage Two, Dye was up to 15th and still hard charging to the front until he broke into the top 10 with few laps remaining in Stage Two. Another caution arose and the No. 20 chose to restart bottom which set him in line seventh. A shuffle on the restart sent Dye four wide heading down the back straightaway as he held on strong and ultimately closed in on a seventh-place Stage Two finish gaining four very valuable stage points. The young driver reported to his team under the stage break that the truck felt really good and no adjustments were necessary. Townsend (Dewey, crew chief) brought the No. 20 Chevrolet down pit road for four fresh Goodyear tires and some Sunoco race fuel to set him up for the final laps of the 150-lap event.

A slow stop forced Dye back multiple spots but that did not stop him from getting back tot he front. Restarting in the 19th position, Dye continued on his journey, ticking one spot at a time. Yellow flags continued to fall and Dye found himself knocking on the door of the top 10 with 26 laps to go. After a caution came out on lap 128, Dye restarted ninth and continued on to solidify a 10th-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway. The driver of the No. 20 Champion Container Chevrolet showed serious speed and determination in tonight’s NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series event and put himself in a good position to have another solid run next week at Michigan.

Daniel Dye Quote:

“Super proud of the results we were able to show tonight in Nashville. We had a really fast No. 20 Champion Container Chevrolet and I can’t thank Dewey, Bill, Champion Container, Chevrolet and everyone who was able to make this possible enough. This team has a lot of potential and I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with them and go battle for another solid finish at Michigan next week.”
