NCTS Point Standings Position: 21st
Kris Wright earned his second consecutive NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) top-20 finish Saturday afternoon, overcoming multiple setbacks to finish 17th in the LiUNA 150 at Lime Rock Park.
Wright qualified 19th and settled into 20th on the opening lap before the No. 81 Warranty Solutions Chevrolet RST began battling a loose condition during the opening run. Wright slipped to 26th by lap six and fell one lap down on lap 26 before taking the green-and-checkered flag in 27th at the end of stage one. Crew Chief Darren Fraley called for rear-end adjustments during the stage break to improve the truck’s balance.

The adjustments paid dividends in Stage 2. Wright posted his fastest lap of the race on lap 39 while running in position to receive the Free Pass before a caution on lap 44 returned the No. 81 to the lead lap. He restarted 21st on lap 50, avoided an incident on the ensuing restart, and lined up 13th for the lap 56 restart following another caution. Wright remained inside the top 20 to finish stage two in 19th after the team made additional chassis and track bar adjustments during the stage break.

Wright was involved in an incident shortly after the start of the final stage on lap 65 and returned to pit road for repairs, leaving the No. 81 Warranty Solutions Chevrolet Silverado RST one lap down. Fraley encouraged the team to “run our race and get to the finish” as Wright returned to the track in 27th for the lap 74 restart. Wright battled for the Free Pass position through multiple cautions before regaining the lead lap on lap 91. A final restart with three laps remaining allowed Wright to climb from 21st to 17th at the checkered flag, securing his second consecutive top-20 finish. MHR also placed two trucks inside the top 10 on Saturday.

Kris Wright Quote:
“We definitely didn’t have the day we were hoping for, but I’m proud of how this Warranty Solutions team kept fighting. We battled handling issues early, got a lap back twice, and never gave up after getting caught up in an incident. Darren (Fraley, crew chief) made great adjustments, the crew made repairs to the damage, and we came away with another top-20 finish. We’ll take the result and race close to home at North Wilkesboro next week.”
