Back to Work … Jake Bollman returns to work behind the wheel of the No. 19 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet SS one month after making his debut for Bill McAnally Racing (BMR). His second start with the team comes on Saturday night at Tucson Speedway, a venue where he has experience and enjoyed prior success. The 17-year-old has wins under his belt at the Arizona bullring in the track’s premier “Chilly Willy” event in Legends car competition. He also ran the event in the super late model division, his closest level of experience to Saturday’s ARCA Menards Series West race at the 0.375-mile short track.
Full of Potential … Bollman displayed a great deal of potential in his first appearance of the season at Phoenix Raceway on March 7th. The Californian qualified seventh amongst a stout group of cars that included the ARCA Menards Series national division along with the full-time AMSW competitors. Bollman was standing his ground in the top-10 until a chunk of lead pieced the nose of the No. 19 and resulted in significant damage. The result has Bollman and crew chief Cayden Lapcevich determined to right that result with a strong effort in the tour’s return to Tucson this weekend.
BMR at Tucson … The AMSW competitors haven’t visited Tucson Speedway since 2019, and when they did, the BMR NAPA team ruled the roost. Derek Kraus swept the doubleheader event by leading 139 laps of a combined 200 between the two races in the No. 16 NAPA entry. Since 1999, the BMR teams have scored a four pack of victories courtesy of Sean Woodside (1999) and Chris Eggleston (2017) completing a one-two sweep with Todd Gilliland in second. Bollman hopes to add his name to the list of BMR’s Arizona winners.
Tune In … Coverage of the tour’s first event at Tucson in six years will be available on FloRacing at 9:00 p.m. ET (www.floracing.com). Stay connected with the No. 19 NAPA Auto Care team by following @BMR_NASCAR on Twitter, @bmrnascar on Instagram, and Bill McAnally Racing on Facebook.
Jake Bollman Quote:
On making his first AMSW start at Tucson:
“It’s a good feeling to go into the weekend with some experience at Tucson. I’ve run the super late model there, and even though the cars are quite different, just having some familiarity will help us make the most of practice on Saturday. Hopefully we can get the NAPA Auto Care Chevy dialed in and be one of the cars to beat at the end of 150 laps. Tucson is a tight place, so we’ll need to make it last all night to be strong late in the race and give ourselves a chance to win.”
