Double Shot of Opportunity … Twice the opportunity awaits Jack Wood at Irwindale Speedway during Independence Day week in southern California, including the BlueDEF / NAPA Auto Care 150. A double-header is on tap for Wood and the ARCA Menards Series West (AMSW) competitors as the Irwindale’s spring race was rescheduled to create a double feature this week with two 150-lap events over three days. The driver of the No. 16 BlueDEF, NAPA Nightvision Chevrolet SS has two chances to break through for his first victory and vault himself back into the championship battle.

Season to Date … Wood, crew chief Kevin Bellicourt, and the No. 16 team enter Irwindale with momentum after scoring their first top-five finish of the season at Sonoma Raceway on June 7th. The effort advanced Wood to third in the AMSW standings after four races and is only 19 points behind the lead. The Loomis, Calif. driver has two top-10’s to his credit, which includes a seventh-place run in the season opener at Phoenix Raceway. Half the schedule to this point has been contested on road courses, but the return to Irwindale’s sweeping half-mile is a more accurate barometer of the balance of the schedule. Last season, the No. 16 team scored a pair of top-five finishes at Irwindale with driver Tanner Reif.

BMR History in Southern Cali … Since 2001, BMR teams have dominated at Irwindale Speedway. The organization has been the most prolific performers at the half-mile in AMSW history with a staggering 16 point-paying wins in addition to the 2003 All-Star showdown event. Wood and teammate Eric Johnson Jr. look to add to BMR’s legacy in California and claim the team’s first Irwindale trophy since sweeping both events in 2021 with Jesse Love.

Tune In … Both legs of the Independence Day week double header can be streamed live on www.FloRacing.com with the green flag at 10:05 p.m. ET each night. Stay connected with the No. 16 BlueDEF, NAPA Nightvision team by following @BMR_NASCAR on Twitter, @bmrnascar on Instagram, and Bill McAnally Racing on Facebook.

Jack Wood Quote:

On the second short track race of the season:

“This week at Irwindale kind of sets the table for the rest of the season. We’ve had some road courses, a flat mile, and really only one short track so far this year. I think we can make some progress in the standings this week with our BlueDEF, NAPA Nightvision Chevrolet. We had a fast car at Kern County back in April and had a good test at Irwindale too. These guys ran well at Irwindale last year, so I think we can pick up where we left off and put ourselves in contention both nights. Fourth of July weekend is always a fun time, so hopefully we can celebrate it with a couple wins this week.”
