The Quest for 12 … Jack Wood begins his first full-time ARCA Menards Series West (AMSW) campaign on Friday evening at Phoenix Raceway. The driver of the No. 16 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet SS is on a quest to capture the 12th AMSW title for Bill McAnally and the BMR organization. Wood, a native of Loomis, Calif., joins the Roseville, Calif.-based team in search for the team’s first victory since 2022. He has four previous top-five finishes in 19 previous starts, including three fourth-place finishes, the most recent of which came in last year’s finale at Phoenix Raceway.
A Full Plate … Veteran crew chief Kevin Bellicourt will guide Wood and the NAPA Auto Care team throughout the 2024 AMSW campaign. While the duo is focused on securing the championship, they have their plate full with an additional 14-race slate in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS). Wood and Bellicourt already have their feet wet with two NCTS races under their belt. This is Bellicourt’s second tour of duty out west with BMR as he most recently called the shots for Brittany Zamora in 2019.
BMR at Phoenix … Wood has four starts in the desert and finished fourth last November, he’s looking to add to BMR’s stat line in Phoenix. The organization has wound up in victory lane five times since 2002, most recently in November of 2015 with Todd Gilliland. Wood is shooting to complete a six-pack of Phoenix trophies on Friday evening.
Tune In … The AMSW season opener can be seen live on FOX Sports 1 on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. ET and streamed on the FOX Sports app. Stay connected with the No. 16 NAPA Auto Care team by following @BMR_NASCAR on Twitter, @bmrnascar on Instagram, and Bill McAnally Racing on Facebook.
Jack Wood Quote:
On beginning his title quest at Phoenix:
“I really want to get a win this weekend, bad. This is such a great opportunity for me to jump in the famous No. 16 NAPA Auto Care car and super thankful for it. I raced against Bill and this team for a while and had to compete against them, so it’s nice to be the one driving it. I never had the chance to race for a championship at this level, so we’re focused on going for Bill’s 12th trophy and being consistent all year long. I enjoy racing at Phoenix. I had a solid day there last November, so I think we can build off that this week to get our season started on strong note.”
