BMR Lineup Features Trio Of Talented Young Drivers For K&N West Opener At Phoenix

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (Feb. 25, 2014) – Bill McAnally Racing’s lineup will feature a trio of talented young drivers when the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West kicks off its 2014 season at Phoenix International Raceway on Thursday.

BMR entries in the Talking Stick Resort 75 include Brandon McReynolds in the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry, Cole Custer in the No. 00 NAPA/Haas Automation entry and rookie Nick Drake in the No. 15 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry. The season opener at the one-mile track in the Valley of the Sun will be televised to a national audience and is set to air on FOX Sports 1 on March 7 at 1 p.m. ET.

In addition to the trio of drivers, BMR has also built and prepared an entry for D.J. Kennington at PIR. Kennington, a two-time champion in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1, has registered three top-10 finishes in BMR cars at Phoenix – including a seventh-place finish in last year’s season opener.

“We look forward to a great start to the season in the K&N West,” said BMR President Bill McAnally. “We had great results in the two K&N East races at Florida last week and hope to keep that momentum rolling at Phoenix. The teams worked hard in the off season to prepare for 2014 and we are anxious to get rolling in the K&N West.”

McReynolds, Custer and Drake each bring a different perspective with them to the race – which shares the stage with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series as part of the big NASCAR weekend at PIR.

This will mark the third series start for McReynolds, who will contend for the title in the K&N West this season. The 22-year-old Mooresville, N.C., driver finished ninth in the season opener at Phoenix last year and fifth in the season finale there. McReynolds also has three top-five and eight top-10 finishes in 14 starts in the K&N East, including a third-place finish last week in the UNOH Battle At The Beach at Daytona International Speedway. His racing resume includes the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, where he scored a victory at Talladega Superspeedway in 2012.

Custer of Ladera Ranch, Calif., is returning to PIR, where he dominated the competition last November in one of his two K&N West starts. The then-15-year-old won the pole and led 49 of 50 laps before contact from another car left him to finish sixth. As a rookie in the K&N East last year, Custer captured two wins, two poles and finished eighth in the overall championship standings. In addition to competing in select events in the East and West divisions of the K&N Pro Series this year, Custer is set to race a limited schedule in making his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Drake, who is competing for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title in the K&N East this year, will be making his first of two starts planned in the K&N West in 2014. He is coming off a fourth-place finish last week in the UNOH Battle At The Beach in just his second start in the K&N East. The 18-year-old driver, who also hails from Mooresville, is transitioning to stock cars from open-wheel racing – where he competed in the USAC National Sprint Car Series last year.

BMR, with five championships and a combined record of 50 series wins in the K&N West, expanded into the K&N East this season.
