BMR Two-Strong as Holmes and Harraka reunite as teammates in Sonoma
Bill McAnally Racing’s driver of the No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry, Eric Holmes will be looking to record his first win at the road course of Sonoma Raceway on June 22nd. Holmes recorded five top-five finishes in recent trips to the 1.99-mile road course in the heart of the California wine country.
“I love this track,” said Holmes. “Sonoma Raceway is like a home track to us at BMR. This race has always been No.1 on my list to win and I have come close but have yet to get it done. It’s good to be back.” This will be Holmes fourth start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West this season and is now piloting the familiar No. 16 NAPA entry with three West Series championships and is owned by 2012 West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame inductee, Bill McAnally.
Last year, BMR fielded three entries in the race event at Sonoma. BMR will have two entries in the Carneros “200”. Holmes will be in the No. 16 NAPA Toyota and Paulie Harraka returns to the West Series to pilot the No. 20 Crackle Toyota.
Harraka will be doing double-duty this weekend. He will also be attempting to make a start in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
“I’m still trying to let everything all soak in,” said Harraka. “Making my Sprint Cup debut, a huge step in my career, and returning to Bill McAnally Racing, the place where I won 14 races, will make for a storybook weekend. What a combination.”
“I’m really excited to get back in a West car, and especially to be doing it with Bill and crew chief Duane Knorr at Sonoma. I’m really grateful for the work that Bill, Duane and the guys are putting in to make this happen. I know we can win: all three trips we’ve made there together, we’ve fought for the win. We’ve come so close; finishing 2nd in 2010 and leading a bunch of laps in 2011. So, our goal is simple: to bring home the trophy.”
The Carneros “200” at Sonoma Raceway will be on Saturday, June 22nd. This is a companion race to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
