K&N West Hits Midway Point Of Season At Stateline
• BMR Drivers Strong In First Half Of 2016
ROSEVILLE, Calif. (July 5, 2016) – The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West reaches the midway point of the 2016 season with the completion of the Toyota / NAPA AUTO PARTS 150 at Stateline Speedway on Saturday.
It’s the seventh event on a 14-race schedule this season, and the fifth visit by the series to the quarter-mile oval in Post Falls, Idaho.
Bill McAnally Racing has accounted for four wins in the first six races this season, with series rookie Todd Gilliland capturing two victories in the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry and defending series champion Chris Eggleston going to Victory Lane twice in the No. 50 NAPA Filters / H20 Fire Protection Toyota Camry.
Their BMR teammates, Riley Herbst and Julia Landauer, have also had a strong start in the first half of the season – with multiple top-five finishes as rookies in the series. Landauer drives the No. 54 Curb Records Toyota Camry, while Herbst wheels the No. 19 NAPA Batteries Toyota Camry. They will be joined at Stateline by Cole Moore, a series newcomer who is running select races for BMR this year in the No. 20 JM Environmental Toyota Camry.
Gilliland – who won at Irwindale (California) Speedway and Kern County Raceway Park near Bakersfield, California – is second in the championship standings and leads the rookie points. The 16-year-old from Sherrills Ford, North Carolina is coming off a disappointing finish at Sonoma (California) Raceway after getting collected in a multicar pileup at the start of the race. In addition to his wins, he has five top-five finishes in the first six races.
Eggleston – who took home the winning hardware at Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, California and at his home track of Colorado National Speedway – is third in points. The Erie, Colorado driver was also caught up in the crash at Sonoma and is looking to rebound at the Idaho short track. Eggleston finished 11th in last year’s race at Stateline.
Landauer, 24, is sixth in the championship standings and second in rookie points. The New York native – who now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina – has two top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes. She finished 11th at Sonoma. Landauer, along with Gilliland, are part of the NASCAR Next program that spotlights NASCAR’s rising stars.
Herbst is coming off a strong performance at Sonoma, where he notched a fifth-place finish in his first road course event. The 17-year-old from Las Vegas is eighth in the overall standings and fourth in rookie points. He has two top-five and four top-10 finishes.
Moore, 19, of Granite Bay, California will be making his second series start of the season and the third of his career. He qualified third and ran in the lead pack last month at Colorado, but was relegated to a 14th-place finish after a late-race incident.
Activities at Stateline Speedway include a meet-and-greet with BMR drivers and rides around the track on Friday night, along with VIP NAPA Hospitality on Saturday.
The Toyota / NAPA AUTO PARTS 150 will be televised on NBCSN on July 15 at 2 p.m. ET.
