Kraus, Deegan To Run K&N East At South Boston

• BMR Drivers Look For Strong Finishes In Doubleheader

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (May 1, 2019) – Derek Kraus, second in points amid an early-season championship battle in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, heads to South Boston Speedway for a special doubleheader event on Saturday.

The 17-year-old driver of Bill McAnally Racing’s No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry looks to capitalize on the opportunity as competitors will be going for championship points in two races on the same day at the historic .4-mile Virginia track, with the WhosYourDriver.org twin 100-lap races.

Kraus, who won the season opener at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway, followed that up with a sixth-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway – leaving him just three points out of the lead in the championship standings. The Stratford, Wisconsin driver is in his third full season of competition in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, while making selected starts in the K&N East during that timeframe.

His BMR teammate, Hailie Deegan, looks to rebound strong at South Boston – after encountering issues in the first two K&N East races this year. The 17-year-old from Temecula, California is in her second season behind the wheel of the No. 19 Monster Energy / NAPA Power Premium Plus Toyota Camry.

Deegan, who is first in points in the K&N West, became the first woman to lead the championship standings of a series at the regional or national levels of NASCAR.

Kraus and Deegan are both members of the NASCAR Next program that spotlights NASCAR’s emerging stars. They are running the full schedule this year in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, while also racing in select events in the K&N East.

It will be a busy week for Kraus, who will also be competing in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race at Dover International Speedway in Delaware on Friday. It’s one of four truck series races he’s scheduled to compete in this year with BMR.

The South Boston doubleheader, which marks the third and fourth races of a 13-event series schedule, will air live on FansChoice.TV – the streaming digital platform that’s airing the entire NASCAR regional series schedule live this year. In addition, the twin races are each slated to be televised on NBCSN – with the first race airing on May 8 at 6 p.m.ET and the second on May 9 at 6 p.m. ET.
