McReynolds Finishes Fifth At Miller Motorsports Park
• Scores Top-Five Finishes In Both K&N West Road Races For 2014
TOOELE, Utah (Sept. 13, 2014) – Brandon McReynolds finished fifth in the EnergySolutions Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park on Saturday, giving him top-five finishes in both NASCAR K&N Pro Series West road course events for 2014.
Making his first visit to the winding 2.2-mile Utah track, McReynolds matched the fifth-place finish he had in his Bill McAnally Racing No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota earlier in the season at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway.
The 23-year-old driver from Mooresville, North Carolina also extended his streak of consecutive top-five finishes to eight.
McReynolds, who was fifth quickest in qualifying earlier in the day on Saturday, charged to third early and maintained that position for much of the race. He later began to fade, however, giving up two spots in the final 15 laps of the 50-lap race. David Mayhew made a late move to get past a dominant Greg Pursley and take the win.
A member of the NASCAR Next program that spotlights NASCAR’s rising stars, McReynolds is in his first full season of competing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.
He is third in the championship standings, 29 points out of first and 14 behind second. In addition to two poles, he has 10 top-five and 11 top-10 finishes in 12 starts this season.
Two events remain on this year’s 14-race schedule for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, with the next stop on the circuit at All American Speedway in Roseville, California for the NAPA AUTO PARTS/Toyota 150 on Oct. 11.
