McReynolds Rebounds To Finish Fourth At Stockton

 ·    Tight Short-Track Action For NASCAR K&N Pro Series West

STOCKTON, Calif. (May 3, 2014) – Brandon McReynolds battled back from a late-race incident to finish fourth in NASCAR K&N Pro Series West action at Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway on Saturday.

The driver of the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota, in his first series start on the historic quarter-mile bullring, made a hard charge back to the front in the closing laps of the 150-lap event.

The 22-year-old from Mooresville, N.C., had started fifth on the grid and was up to third with less than 30 laps remaining, when contact from another car sent him spinning in Turn 1. He charged forward from eighth on the restart to finish fourth – matching his career-best series mark.

“The NAPA Toyota was fast,” said McReynolds, who is in his first full season of series competition. “We got wrecked there, running down the leaders. I thought we had a good car. We probably had a second-place car, but I would have liked to have seen what we could have done with it. That’s short track racing. It was definitely a lot of fun.”

Pole-sitter David Mayhew took the win, followed by Greg Pursley and Giles Thornton.

The Stockton race, which will be televised on FOX Sports 1 on May 9 at 1:30 p.m. ET, was the third event of 14-race series schedule.

With his finish, McReynolds remains second in the championship standings – nine points out of first. He has one pole, two top-fives and three top 10s in three series starts this year. Last week, he was named to the 2014-2015 class of NASCAR Next, a program that spotlights NASCAR’s rising stars.

The next event on the series schedule is the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East-West combination race at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa on May 17.
