Moore To Drive Select Events For BMR In K&N West
• Six Series Races Slated For Second-Generation Driver This Year
ROSEVILLE, Calif. (June 2, 2016) – Bill McAnally Racing today announced that Cole Moore will compete in select events for the team in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West this season.
The second-generation driver from Granite Bay, California will drive a BMR entry in six of the 10 races remaining on the series schedule.
Moore – who turns 19 this week – made his K&N West debut at Roseville, California last October, with a 19th-place finish for BMR. He is in his second full season of competition in the Pacific Challenge Series Late Models this year and looks to enhance his racing experience with the addition of the K&N West events.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to work with Cole again,” said BMR President Bill McAnally. “The finish in his series debut did not reflect how well he ran in that race and the potential we see in him.
“This year’s schedule will assist in his development and help set the stage for next year,” McAnally said. “We hope he can catch the kind of attention that could lead to an opportunity to run the full season in 2017.”
Moore finished third in the overall standings last year as a rookie in the PCS Late Models, as he transitioned from racing motorcycles on dirt to racing stock cars. Now he looks to take the next step in his racing career.
“I want to come into the K&N West and do well, while keeping the car clean,” said Moore, a student at California State University, Sacramento. “Hopefully, I can get some sponsorship set up so I can do the full season next year.”
Getting experience, meanwhile, is a big key to his development, according to Cole’s father, John – whose racing resume includes seven K&N West races since 2003, as well as extensive late model competition.
“We’re real honored to have this opportunity with BMR team,” he said. “Cole doesn’t take it lightly. We’re going to do our best to represent the team the best we can and to race hard and clean.”
Their aim is to net some good results this season and possibly move up to be a contender in the series in 2017, he said.
The six K&N West events on Moore’s schedule include Colorado National Speedway on June 11, Stateline Speedway on July 9, Douglas County Speedway on Aug. 27, the double-header at Utah Motorsports Campus on Sept. 10-11, and All American Speedway on Oct. 15.
Veteran crew chiefs Chris Nelle and Michael Munoz will head up the effort on Moore’s team.
Moore joins a lineup of four drivers who are racing the full K&N West schedule for BMR this season. The lineup includes defending series champion Chris Eggleston and three talented young rookies – Todd Gilliland, who leads the championship standings; Riley Herbst, and Julia Landauer.
