Top-Five Finish for McReynolds and the No. 20 NAPA Filters Toyota Team
BMR fielded three entries in the Casino Arizona “50”
Roseville, Calif. –The No. 20 NAPA Filters Toyota team with driver Brandon McReynolds from Bill McAnally RacingMcReynolds made his second NASCAR K&N Pro Series West start at the 1-mile tri-oval in Phoenix, Arizona on Nov 9th. After qualifying mid-pack, the team made some needed adjustments because of tire rub on the left front fender. This required McReynolds to drop to the rear of the field at the start of the race. He quickly made the trek toward the front to bring home the NAPA Filters Toyota in 5th.
“It was a good race,” said McReynolds. “We just needed a few more laps. I just want to thank everyone on the NAPA Filters Toyota team. We had a blown motor during the first practice and the team did a great job getting that replaced. We did have to start at the back of the pack so going from 31st to 5th says a lot about not just Bill McAnally Racing but all of the guys. I want to thank NAPA Filters for allowing me to come do this.”
McReynolds fastest lap of the race came at lap 44 of 50. “The No. 20 NAPA Filters Toyota Camry came to life towards the end. The track was pretty slick. Everyone was moving up on the groove and we kept working the bottom. My spotter Kevin Hamlin did an awesome job. He was on top of it. It goes to show why he was a great driver when he was racing. He had a lot of good ideas and it worked out. We just needed a few more laps.”
Nineteen-year old Chase Briscoe piloted the No. 99 Peak/T-Rex Toyota Camry for a second race in a row in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. He qualified the car alongside his teammate McReynolds to start the Casino Arizona “50”.
“Today was a long day,” said Briscoe. “We struggled a bit with qualifying and got a bad draw for the race. We got caught up in a multi-car crash on the first lap and kind of ruined our whole race. It was one of those racing deals. We had a lot of cosmetic damage to the No. 99 Toyota. Then around lap 20 or around there, we blew the motor. The radiator was damaged from that incident and we overheated. It was just one of those weekends. You know, I’ve always been a ‘dirt guy’ but I want to make the transition to pavement. I can’t thank everyone enough; Peak, T-Rex, Toyota and Bill McAnally Racing for giving me this opportunity.”
Rounding out the three entries from BMR was Shane Golobic, piloting the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota. This was Golobic’s third start for BMR with his first being at BMR’s home track of All American Speedway. This will be his first start piloting the familiar blue-and-gold NAPA Toyota.
“Our day was kind of up and down,” said Golobic. “We started out qualifying early this morning and ripped off a really good lap, qualifying fourth quick. The No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota was really good, really stable and really comfortable. I was happy going into the race. I thought we would have a strong run. The first half of the race, we were tight in the center. I was fighting it and kept trying to use the apron to get the car to rotate. I ended up getting it to rotate and it looped on me. I restarted at the back a lap down. After we spun, Roger Bracken (crew chief) told me to dial in some brake and the car got a lot better then. I was hoping for a better finish but it is what it is. I learned a ton so I want to thank Bill McAnally and Roger for working with me. I hope we can do this again next year. It was an honor to pilot the No. 16 NAPA Toyota Camry.”
The Casino Arizona “50” will be televised on Sunday, November 17th at 9am Eastern Time on Fox Sports 1. Check your local listings.
