Tyler Ankrum finished 34th after he was wrangled up in bad luck at Texas Motor Speedway. Ankrum looked to have pace after delivering the second-fastest lap in practice. However, he got loose into Turn 2 and made collision with the wall which forced Ankrum and the No. 18 LIUNA team to a backup truck. Despite missing all of practice Ankrum’s lap was good enough pace to keep him second for the remainder of practice.
Ankrum started the SpeedyCash.com 250 from the rear of the field and found another dose of unfortunate luck early. On lap two, another truck in front of Ankrum lost steering and collected him resulting in significant damage, causing terminal damage. Ankrum remains in playoff contention and sits sixth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings.
Tyler Ankrum Quote:
“These types of things happen in racing and unfortunately, we were the ones to be part of it today. I am disappointed our race was cut short, my team worked so hard to get the backup truck ready for the race and we were prepared to make the most of the night. I had no place to go and just got caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time. We’ll regroup as a team and move on to Kansas in a few weeks.”
