Charlotte Deals Helping of Hardship to Mosack

Connor Mosack faced another helping of hardship on Friday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 81 Apollo PEX Chevrolet Silverado RST was working on a top-15 run when he was collected in a multi-truck incident shortly past halfway and relegated him to a 23rd-place finish. After 11 races, Mosack sits 18th in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series standings.

The Charlotte native turned in the 15th-fastest qualifying effort on Friday afternoon but fired off too loose at the drop of the green flag. Despite lacking rear security, Mosack held on to his Chevrolet and ran 23rd on lap 30 at the end of Stage 1 as the entire opening segment ran green.

Mosack made his first pit stop of the night under the stage caution for four tires, fuel, and adjustments to relieve the loose handling condition. He restarted 22nd on lap 39 and battled through dirty air during the second segment. Mosack reported the adjustments impacted the balance but made the Apollo PEX Chevy too tight on corner exit and ran 22nd at the end of Stage 2 on lap 60.

After making his second four-tire stop under yellow, Mosack began moving forward on the ensuing restart but was collected in a wreck on the front straightaway. He sustained severe damage to the nose and right front fender which significantly impacted the truck’s speed. From there, Mosack and company ran out the remainder of the evening to preserve points and took the checkered flag in 23rd position.

Connor Mosack Quote:

“It’s a shame to get caught up in that wreck. The adjustment we made on the first stop made a change to our Apollo PEX Chevy, and I was looking forward to seeing how it played out after our second stop. Unfortunately, the initial wreck came back into traffic and just had nowhere to go. It’s unfortunate, but we’ll put this behind us and try to put a good night together at Nashville next week.”
