Fresh from Winning … Corey Day returns to NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) competition at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS) fresh off another career milestone after capturing the $30,000-to-win Trophy Cup at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif. on Saturday night. The highly-touted 18-year-old notched another 410 winged sprint car win on his impressive resume and looks to continue building his stock in the NASCAR realm with his third start for MHR on Saturday afternoon in South Florida. Crew chief Chad Norris returns to the pit box to call the shots for Day and the No. 91 team.

Jumpin’ In … The driver of the No. 91 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet has been impressive with raw speed in his first two starts at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) and Kansas Speedway in September. Most recently, Day ran inside the top-10 at Kansas Speedway prior to being collected in a multi-truck incident. The Californian posted an 18th-place result in his debut at BMS and looks to notch his first-career top-10 in South Florida. Day has also excelled in his three ARCA Menards Series starts, and recently scored a fourth-place finish at Kansas in September.

MHR to Date … Day rejoins the MHR squad in the midst of the organization’s most successful season to date. The team currently has Christian Eckes and Tyler Ankrum still in the playoff hunt and placed Daniel Dye in the championship chase for the first time in his career. MHR drivers Eckes and Ankrum have led the drivers’ point standings for 15 of the 20 weeks this season and have combined for three race wins and 11 of the team’s 12 stage wins. The No. 91 team scored a season high second-place finish at Kansas in May with Zane Smith after earning a stage win. Day looks to add to the No. 91 team’s total of three top-five’s and six top-10 finishes, and aims to give the team consecutive top-10 results for the first time since May earlier this season.

Corey Day Quote:

On his first start at Homestead-Miami Speedway:

“I’ve been excited to get to Homestead (-Miami Speedway). I feel like it will really play to my background of riding the wall. Obviously, it’s been a couple weeks since I’ve been in the truck, but I definitely feel more comfortable after having a couple of races under my belt. Hopefully we can keep improving this weekend.”
