Back to the Oval… After taking on the challenges of Circuit of The America’s (COTA), Daniel Dye is headed north to Virginia and the familiar Martinsville Speedway. The driver of the No. 43 Champion Container Chevrolet Silverado RST is making his second short track start of the season in hopes to replicate his strong 13th-place showing at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) in March. Dye will continue his push to earn a playoff spot at “The Paperclip” in hopes of securing his fourth track-best result this year.
Race For the Clock… Dye has been able to consistently start near the front courtesy of strong qualifying efforts. The No. 43 Champion Container Silverado RST driver has an average start of 10.0 this season, with his best being his first-career pole position at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS). He will have to demonstrate this pace again at Martinsville, where starting position is crucial. McAnally-Hilgemann Racing (MHR) had success at BMS with three drivers finishing in the top-five, including a victory for Christian Eckes. Dye plans to continue that success and secure another career-high finish at Martinsville.
Season to Date … Through five of 16 regular season events, Dye’s sophomore season is off to a terrific start with a season high ninth-place finish and pole award at AMS. He’s also posted track-best results at Daytona International Speedway and BMS which has placed him 15th in the NCTS standings, 22 markers shy of the provisional cut line.
Tune In … FOX Sports 1 has coverage all day from Martinsville beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET with practice and qualifying. Daniel Dye Quote:
On his expectations Martinsville:
“Martinsville is one of those tracks where you have to stay up on the wheel. There’s a lot of aggression and urgency throughout the night with it being such a short race. Our Champion Container team did a good job at Bristol a few weeks ago, so if we can execute and keep improving throughout the race, we can definitely get another top-10 finish.”
