Hemric Looks for Short Track Breakthrough at IRP

Flip the Switch … Daniel Hemric looks to leverage Friday night’s showdown at Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP) into a springboard towards the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series (NCTS) “Chase”. The driver of the No. 19 Delphi Chevrolet Silverado RST owns a healthy 40-point cushion over the provisional cut line with three races remaining until the seven-race dash for the title. Hemric looks to cement a reservation in the “Chase” if he’s able to gain 36 points on the cut line over the next two races. Friday’s 200-lapper at IRP marks the one-year anniversary of Hemric being paired with crew chief Kevin Bellicourt, and the duo would like nothing more than to celebrate with their first victory of the 2026 campaign.
Circle City Winners … A year ago, Hemric posted a seventh-place finish in his first NCTS appearance at the venerable 0.686-mile short track. While he and the No. 19 team are pursuing MHR’s first win at IRP, the Hemric household owns five victories in the “Circle City”. He captured a pro late model victory, swept the CRA All-Star Tour races in 2012 and the 2014 Fall Brawl. His wife Kenzie also earned a victory at IRP in the 2011 Fall Brawl. A strong effort by the No. 19 Delphi team could add another IRP trophy to the Hemric family collection. In nine short track events with MHR dating back to last season, Hemric has tallied three top-five’s, and four top-10 finishes in nine races.
Season to Date … With three races remaining in the regular season, Hemric resides eighth in the NCTS standings after 15 races. He has totaled two top-five’s and six top-10’s, along with a stage victory at Watkins Glen International in the Delphi colors back in May.

“We certainly haven’t hit our potential yet on the short tracks this year. There’s plenty more for us to find at these places, and Kevin [Bellicourt] and all these guys on our No. 19 team are working hard to have a strong Delphi Chevrolet this week. We made our truck a lot better in the second half of the race at IRP last year and ran our best at the end. We definitely want to unload better and start our nights farther forward. All these short tracks back-to-back are going to play a big part in how the Chase starts, so we want to make the most of it and position ourselves the best we can.”
