Prime Time at Home … Charlotte, N.C. native Connor Mosack is ready to seize an opportunity in prime time on Friday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). The driver of the No. 81 Apollo PEX Chevrolet Silverado RST is beginning to gain traction after gaining three positions in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) standings at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NWS) last weekend. The North Carolina native is trending back into the playoff race and seeks to vault himself further up the point standings in his second NCTS race at CMS.
Feeling at Home … CMS has a reputation for one of the most challenging intermediate tracks on the schedule, but Mosack has felt right at home on the 1.5-mile quad oval. A year ago, Mosack delivered his first-career top-10 NCTS finish with an eighth-place effort and finished top-five in his first ARCA Menards Series race at CMS (2022). The 26-year-old also has one NASCAR Xfinity Series start on his resume on the CMS oval. He and the No. 81 team are focused on transferring some of their success on similar tracks this season, including a pole and 30 laps led at Atlanta Motor Speedway, to Friday night’s contest in the Queen City.
Season to Date … After a 16th place finish at NWS last weekend, Mosack jumped to 17th in the NCTS drivers’ point standings with eight races remaining before the playoffs begin. Mosack scored his season-high ninth-place finish at Rockingham Speedway in April and hopes to add a second top-10 result in as many starts at CMS. After 10 of 18 regular season events, Mosack sits 80 points behind the provisional playoff cut line.
Tune In … Another one-day show is on tap for Mosack with practice and qualifying beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 2. Race coverage follows at 8:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. Connor Mosack Quote:
On the chance to continue his climb up the standings:
“It’s a nice change of pace to race around home for these two weeks. We made a little bit of ground last week at North Wilkesboro, so it’d be great to continue that at Charlotte this week. Our teammates have had quite a bit of speed, and I think our Apollo PEX Chevrolet can match that on Friday. Hopefully we can improve on our qualifying a little bit to give ourselves more track position from the start of the night. We’ve been saying it for a while, but a smooth, clean night would give us a great chance to run in the top-10 and the points will take care of themselves.”
