Mosack Has Ground to Gain in South Florida

Venue: Homestead-Miami Speedway
Event: Baptist Health 200
Date: Friday, March 21
Location: Homestead, FL
Track Description: 1.5-mile oval
Distance: 134 laps, 201 miles (8:00 p.m. ET, FOX, Motor Racing Network)
Ground to Gain … Connor Mosack has ground to gain as the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) returns to South Florida at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS) on Friday night. The driver of the No. 81 Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Chevrolet Silverado RST comes back to the site of his best-career finish in an effort to ascend in the championship standings. Mosack and crew chief Blake Bainbridge look to parlay their speed into the team’s first top-10 finish to jumpstart their campaign.
Quick Learner … Mosack proved to be a quick learned last October at HMS when he drove to an impressive third-place finish. The North Carolinian raced well inside the top-10 throughout the event and finished the effort strong in the final segment to earn his first-career top-five result. Mosack’s playoff aspirations to return the No. 81 team to the seven-race championship showdown can take off with a repeat performance in Miami-Dade County on Friday evening. After earning the pole award and leading 30 laps at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) two races ago, Mosack has the muscle to get the job done at HMS. Bainbridge and the team previously finished seventh last fall with Daniel Dye at the controls.
Season to Date … The numbers in the box score don’t tell the story through three races in Mosack’s rookie NCTS season. His first-career pole award and first stage domination at AMS has been the highlight, due to a transmission issue at Daytona International Speedway and a late-race flat tire in Las Vegas. Mosack sits 24th in the NCTS championship standings, but well within sight of a playoff position.
Tune In … Friday’s 200-mile showdown will be featured on FOX network for the first time this season at 8:00 p.m. ET. On-track activity gets underway on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 2 with practice and qualifying. Connor Mosack Quote:
On returning to the site of his best-career finish:
“Homestead has definitely been one of the tracks I’ve been looking forward to. We had a smooth day with a lot of speed there last fall, and Blake and this team had a strong run there too, so there’s a lot to look forward to. Our Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Chevrolet has been fast every week so far this year, but we’ve had a couple hiccups that kept us from getting the finishes we deserve. Tire management and having good long run balance will be important this week, and we have a lot of confidence from last year that we’ll have a fast Chevrolet for Friday night.”
