The Ringer … As the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series (NCTS) makes its inaugural venture to the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL, perhaps no driver is better positioned to upset the playoff field than Connor Mosack. The driver of the No. 81 Apollo Pex Chevrolet Silverado RST has a pair of Trans-Am TA2 victories on his resume and is one of the few drivers entered with experience on the 2.32-mile course in the form of two NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) starts. Mosack hopes to transfer his extensive road racing experience to his first top-five finish of his rookie season on Friday afternoon.
Road Warrior … Mosack enters the third and final road course event of the season as one of the most consistent performers on the left and right-handers. In the two previous road course events at Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen International, Mosack scored points in all four stage in both events. While he was a front runner in both races, he succumbed to the late race chaos at both venues. Mosack has delivered strong results in NXS competition in his sporadic appearances with a fifth-place run at Watkins Glen International in 2023, a sixth-place effort at the Chicago Street Course in 2024, and an eighth at Portland International Raceway in 2023. Regardless of the vehicle or circuit, Mosack has been a proven performer on various types of road course venues.
Season to Date … Mosack resides 14th in the NCTS point standings after 21 of 25 races. He enters the first NCTS event at the ROVAL with three top-10 finishes and one pole award to his credit in his rookie campaign. Two of his last three starts have resulted in top-15 results at Darlington Raceway and Bristol Motor Speedway.
Tune In … Friday’s on-track activity gets underway with practice and qualifying at 11:00 a.m. ET on FOX Sports 2, followed by the green flag at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. Connor Mosack Quote:
On racing at the ROVAL:
“It’s nice to have a little more experience at the ROVAL than most in the field, for sure. That’s a nice change of pace, and hopefully we can take advantage of that with our Friends of Jacyln Foundation Chevy. It’s a really technical track with not a whole lot of runoff. There’s areas like turns one through four that don’t allow much room for error. The restarts in the Xfinity races have always been wild through that first section and the hairpin in Turn 7 has added another passing zone. If we can qualify towards the front, that will give us a good chance to be on the right side of the strategies at both stages and hopefully we can be in position to contend like we were at Lime Rock earlier this year.”
