Back on the Road … Jack Wood is back on the road and returns to the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on Saturday afternoon for his sixth road course start. The Californian is back in the seat of the No. 91 Klotz Synthetics / Cometic Gasket Chevrolet Silverado RST for his third of 14 scheduled starts this season after a two-race absence. Since Wood’s last appearance at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS), the No. 91 team has been on a roll with former NCTS champion Zane Smith at the controls. Smith posted two top-10 results with the No. 91 team, including a third-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway last weekend as MHR claimed three of the top-five finishing positions.
Road Course History … In his young NCTS career, Wood has gotten a cram session in road course racing. He has five previous road course starts in NCTS competition at three different venues thus far in his career and is set for his third appearance at COTA this weekend. While he’s still pursuing his first top-10 at the road courses, he’s proven to be more than capable when it comes to turning left and right in the ARCA Menards Series (AMS). Wood collected a third-place finish in 2023 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and has two top-10 finishes on road courses in the AMS. He and the No. 91 team look to transfer that history to the No. 91 Klotz Synthetics / Cometic Gasket Chevrolet to continue the team’s streak of top-10 runs.
Running Out West … Since Wood’s most recent start at (AMS) on February 24th, he’s been busy launching the ARCA Menards Series West season with the No. 16 NAPA Auto Care team based in Roseville, Calif. On March 8th, Wood kicked off the 12-race tour with the season opener at Phoenix Raceway and pocketed a seventh-place finish. The event was a stacked combination event with the AMS and the result has Wood as the projected points leader when the west tour resumes at Irwindale Speedway on March 30th.
Tune In … FOX Sports 1’s (FS1) coverage from COTA kicks off on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET. Coverage continues Saturday with NASCAR Raceday on FS1 at 12:30 p.m. ET followed by the green flag at 1:30 p.m. ET. Jack Wood Quote:
On returning for the road course at COTA:
“Our No. 91 team has done a great job the past two weeks with Zane (Smith) and we’d like to keep that going at COTA with Klotz Synthetics and Cometic back on board. Road racing is obviously something we don’t do very often, and COTA is one of the most challenging road courses there is, but we’re looking forward to it. I’ve been able to race there twice before, even the first year in the rain, so being familiar with the racetrack is important. Hopefully we can execute a smooth day on Saturday, minimize our mistakes and keep this top-10 streak going.”
