Wood Logs 26th-Place Finish in Battle at Bristol

Jack Wood piloted the No. 91 Mongoose Chevrolet Silverado to a 26th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series UNOH 200. Wood posted a a 29th-place lap in final practice, then earned the 24th-place starting position with a 15.792-second lap.

During the 55-lap Stage 1, Wood reported that his Chevrolet was free into the corner, and at the stage break, crew chief Kevin Bellicourt brought him to pit road for four tires, fuel and adjustments. Wood finished Stage 1 in 29th position.

Following the stage break, Wood restarted 26th, but fell to 29th and communicated that the handling of his Chevrolet had improved, but was still free in to the corner, and tight exiting the corner. During the stage break following Stage 2, Bellicourt had the 24-year-old driver stay out on track, improving his track position to 15th to start Stage 3.

Wood maintained a position in the top-20, and informed his team that he was now tight in the center of the corner. With 29 laps to go in the event, Wood restarted in 14th place, but began to fall back, and with 19 laps to go, contact from another vehicle caused him to spin out. Forced to return to pit road for four tires, Wood restarted one lap down to the leader in the 26th position, where he remained until the checkered flag flew. After 18 races, the No. 91 team is positioned 15th in the NCTS owners’ point standings.

“Definitely not the result we wanted with our Mongoose Chevrolet. We were loose in and got tight on exit and just couldn’t find the balance we needed. Thanks to Kevin (Bellicourt) and everyone on this 91 team for working as hard as they did today. Hopefully we can have a good couple weeks in our NAPA Chevy out west and come back in a few weeks with a better result in the truck.”
