In The Mix … Jack Wood makes his second start of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) campaign at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) after coming within reach of the victory in last week’s opener at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). The driver of the No. 91 Klotz Synthetics / Cometic Gasket Chevrolet Silverado RST was in the mix running third on the final lap with a legitimate opportunity for his first-career win but was swept up in the last-lap chaos. The Californian is back for redemption in his second of 14-scheduled NCTS starts to attempt to deliver MHR its second-consecutive victory at AMS.
Atlanta History … One of Wood’s best NCTS efforts came last season at AMS when he led laps on his way to a 10th-place result. With a strong effort from DIS at his back, Wood is looking forward to AMS’ challenge as two of his three career top-10’s came at 1.5-mile speedways. In two previous NCTS starts on Atlanta’s recently configurated layout, Wood has been solid with results of 13th (2022) and 10th (2023).
MHR ATL Track Record … Wood is looking to help the MHR organization visit AMS’ victory lane for the second-straight year. Last season, teammate Christian Eckes led 35 laps and scored the team’s first victory in NCTS competition. Since 2020, MHR has three top-10 finishes in six combined outings at AMS. Wood is motivated to advance the No. 91 team up from 18th in the NCTS owners’ point standings with another top-10 result before handing the wheel over to 2022 champion Zane Smith at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Tune In … FOX Sports 1’s (FS1) coverage from AMS begins with pole qualifying on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. ET. NASCAR Raceday kicks off FS1’s coverage on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET followed by the green flag at 2:00 p.m. ET. Jack Wood Quote:
On making his third start at AMS:
“I’m really excited for Atlanta this weekend. We proved to ourselves at Daytona that we can run up front and draft our way up there to be in contention, so I’m really optimistic about our Klotz, Cometic Chevrolet. I think we worked well with our teammates last week and we’ll need to do that again to manage the race and get ourselves in a position towards the end to have a chance at it. It’d be great to put MHR in victory lane back-to-back at Atlanta, so that’s what we’re going to try to do.”
