Back to Bristol … Jack Wood returns to action at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) on Thursday evening for his third start on the “World’s Fastest Half Mile” concrete high banks. The driver of the No. 91 Mongoose Bicycles Chevrolet Silverado RST looks to elevate his recent string of consistency. Wood returns to BMS on the strength of two-straight top-15 finishes at Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP) and The Milwaukee Mile. The MHR teams dominated at BMS in March as the organization claimed three of the top-five finishers, including winner Christian Eckes and the No. 91 team with Zane Smith finishing third.
Team USA … As Wood wheels his Mongoose Bicycles paint scheme at BMS, he and the team will be joined by the USA BMX Foundation and United States BMX racer Olympian, Cam Wood. As an avid NASCAR fan, Cam Wood will make his first visit to BMS after competing in the Paris Summer Olympics. Both Jack and Cam Wood visited students at a local elementary school in Bristol, Tenn. as part of the USA BMX Foundation’s STEM program and donated bike kits for students and taught them about the healthy lifestyle habits, work-ethic, and training disciplines that both BMX and motorsports disciplines require.
Season to Date … Wood and the No. 91 team led by crew chief Kevin Bellicourt sit 14th in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) owners’ point standings after 17 of 23 events. The Loomis, Calif. driver has tallied his two best career-best short track finishes in the most recent events, including a 12th at North Wilkesboro Speedway and a 15th at IRP. The No. 91 team has posted a total of three top-five finishes and five top 10 results.
Tune In … Coverage from “Thunder Valley” beings at 3:00 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 2 with practice and qualifying, followed by the green flag at 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. Jack Wood Quote:
On returning to Bristol:
“It will be nice to get back to the track after such a long break. I didn’t run Bristol in the spring, but these guys ran great with Zane (Smith) and all our teammates ran well, so I’m optimistic for Thursday night. We’ve been trending in the right direction on our short track program lately and hopefully we can take another step and put a top-10 run together this week. We’ve had a lot of fun this week hanging out with Cam Wood and everyone from Mongoose. Hopefully we can close the week out strong and execute the way we need to.”
