Wood’s Double Duty Tour Kicks Off at Daytona

Venue: Daytona International Speedway

Event: Fresh From Florida 250

Date: Friday, February 16th

Location: Daytona Beach, FL

Track Description: 2.5-mile tri oval

Distance: 100 laps, 250 miles (7:30 p.m. ET, FOX Sports 1, Motor Racing Network)

Double Dipping … Jack Wood enters Daytona International Speedway (DIS) to kick off his double duty campaign in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) and ARCA Menards Series West (AMSW). Wood, a native of Loomis, Calif. is making his first of 14 scheduled NCTS starts on Friday at DIS driving the No. 91 Klotz Synthetics / Cometic Gasket Chevrolet and will chase the AMSW title in No. 16 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet starting on March 8th. The 23-year-old is teamed up with veteran crew chief Kevin Bellicourt, who boasts NCTS Championship 4 experience and will guide Wood’s efforts in both series.

New Lease on Life … Wood’s addition is a crucial piece of MHR’s expansion to four NCTS teams since the 2023 season concluded. While still young, Wood has a solid foundation of experience with 39 races across the ARCA Menards Series platforms and has raced for two previous organizations in NCTS competition. He will share the No. 91 entry with the 2022 NCTS champion Zane Smith and looks to benefit from that title experience. Teammates Tyler Ankrum and Daniel Dye also join Wood as the new tallies to MHR who are uniting with Christian Eckes in the MHR stable.

NCTS History … Wood has one prior full-time NCTS campaign under his belt, which came in 2022, and has a total of 48 NCTS races on his resume. DIS might be the perfect place for Wood to start his fresh venture with MHR as the “World Center of Racing” has a propensity to produce first-time winners. In his brief NCTS career, Wood has three top-10’s to his credit and posted two of those in a part-time campaign in 2023. He’ll look to lay a strong foundation for his 2024 calendar in his third DIS appearance on Friday night.

Tune In … Wood and the NCTS competitors take to the DIS high banks at 5:00 p.m. ET Thursday evening for practice on FOX Sports 1 (FS1). Coverage on FS1 continues Friday with qualifying at 3:00 p.m. ET, followed by NASCAR Raceday at 6:30 p.m. ET and the green flag at 7:30 p.m. ET. Jack Wood Quote:

On starting his double-duty season at Dayona:

“It’s really exciting to join MHR and I can’t wait for Friday night. This is a great opportunity to run in both the NCTS and ARCA West Series with great people around me. It’s been a fun offseason to start working with Kevin (Bellicourt) and the whole team. We all feel well prepared to start the season and hope we can consistently elevate ourselves through the entire season. I’m really excited to have Klotz Synthetics and Cometic Gasket on board for the first two races and looking forward to being part of the NAPA program on the West program too. There’s a lot to be excited about this season and I can’t wait to get started.
