Kris Wright finished 31st in Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) race at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) after battling through early damage and multiple pit stops in the 125-lap event.
After starting 27th, Wright was involved in an accident on lap 7 that brought the No. 81 iHeartRadio Chevrolet to pit road for repairs. The team returned to the track one lap down before a left rear tire issue on lap 18 forced another stop and additional work to clear debris from the wheel wells, dropping Wright three laps off the pace.
During the second stage, the No. 81 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing (MHR) team made adjustments to tighten the handling of the truck and replaced the scoring transponder. Wright continued to gain track time through a series of cautions in the final stage as the team utilized fuel-only stops and strategy adjustments in an effort to improve track position. Wright took the checkered flag in the 31st position.
Kris Wright Quote: “Brutal day for our iHeartRadio team. The No. 81 crew worked hard all weekend to get speed in the truck, and we never really had the opportunity to show what we were capable of. I’m looking forward to getting to San Diego in a couple of weeks. Road courses have always suited my driving style, and it’ll be special to spend the weekend in Coronado celebrating the military members who will be in attendance.”
