Comfortable on the Road … Daniel Hemric has been more than comfortable on the road over the last year and a half in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series (NCTS) and will need to continue that trend in NASCAR’s inaugural visit to the Coronado Naval Base. The driver of the No. 19 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet Silverado RST has done nearly everything but break into victory lane on the road courses since joining MHR last season. Hemric scored a runner up finish at Watkins Glen International (WGI) in 2025 and recorded a fourth-place finish there in the most recent road course outing in May, along with a stage victory. The North Carolinian displayed immense resilience in the NCTS’ first street course on the streets of St. Petersburg in February where he drove to eighth after being involved in an early incident. Hemric and the NAPA Auto Care team look to conquer the expansive 3.4-mile course on the Coronado Naval Base on Friday afternoon and capture their first road course triumph.
Salute to Military … The familiar NAPA Auto Care paint scheme has been transformed into a red, white, and blue collage for the NCTS’ street battle on the Navy’s home base. Hemric’s scheme celebrates our nation’s 250th anniversary and in recognition the Navy’s “Red Shirts”, the Aviation Ordnanceman (AO) based on Coronado. The scheme also carries a photo of team owner Bill McAnally’s grandfather, who was stationed at Coronado Naval Base during World War II.
Season to Date … Six races remain until the Chase field is set to compete for the NCTS title and Hemric is currently tied for ninth in the championship standings. His one top-five and four top-10 results have him four points above the provisional cut line. At WGI in May, Hemric banked 43 points and a stage win in his top-five effort. He and the No. 19 team are focused on replicating that result to solidify their place among the Chase contenders.
Tune In … Hemric gets his first crack at the sprawling course with two practice sessions on Friday at 12:00 p.m. ET and qualifying at 2:00 p.m. ET, both carried on FOX Sports 2. The first green flag on Coronado Naval Base waves at 4:00 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. Daniel Hemric Quote:
On racing at Coronado Naval Base:
“What a wild reality to think that we’ll be running around on an active Navy base. Such a cool idea and I don’t think any of us know the experience that’s waiting for us. As far as the race goes, it’ll be a really technical track to nail down your marks, braking points, and shift points. The surface is really rough and that will add to the level of difficulty, especially on braking. It’s only 50 laps, and when you factor in stages, some natural cautions, there’s going to be a pretty high level of urgency right from the start. Hopefully we can execute a clean day and have the pace we had at St. Pete and Watkins Glen to give ourselves a strong run.”
