Cancilla Earns 11th Place Finish in 2nd Career ARCA West Start
| Race Results Venue: Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway FINISH: 11th Start: 7th |
| Vito Cancilla and the No. 20 Home Smiles / Impact Transportation team earned an 11th-place finish in Saturday’s rain-shortened NAPA Auto Parts 150 at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway. Cancilla qualified seventh and took the opening run to get comfortable racing the strong ARCA Menards Series West (AMSW) field. After dropping to 11th early on, the Martinez, Calif. native stabilized and continued to improve lap times throughout the opening 20 laps. Cancilla dropped to 12th while avoiding a spinning car under a lap 23 caution as rain began falling. He held his position through the lap 32 restart before moving high to avoid a second incident ahead on lap 33. Additional rain brought out a red flag on lap 43, ultimately ending the event after 42 laps and securing Cancilla’s 11th-place finish. Vito Cancilla Quote: “I was just settling into the race when the first yellow came out. On the second restart, Mason (Massey, teammate) got by me as I avoided the second wreck, and the race was over before we knew it. It’s disappointing to only get 42 laps, especially since seat time is so important to my development in these stock cars. I’d like to thank Home Smiles, Impact Transportation, Bill McAnally and everyone at BMR for the opportunity. Hopefully, I can return to an ARCA car next season and continue developing.” |
