Connor Mosack rallied from a lap down to record a resilient 13th-place finish on Saturday afternoon in his debut at Darlington Raceway. The driver of the No. 81 Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Chevrolet Silverado RST responded over the final 60 laps after being buried in the field to vault himself up the leaderboard and climbed to 14th in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series standings.

Mosack qualified 14th on Friday afternoon but began the 147-lap event on Saturday with a loose handling condition. The race’s first 45 laps went green as Mosack wrestled with an extremely free balance and ran 19th on lap 29. He went a lap down on the final lap of the stage but earned the Lucky Dog award at the end of the first segment on lap 45 while running 18th.

Crew chief Blake Bainbridge gave Mosack four tires, fuel, and adjustments to remedy the balance under the stage caution period. He restarted at the tail of the field, on the lead lap, in 18th and stayed there for the duration of the second segment through lap 90.

Rapid pit work under the second stage caution by the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation team gained Mosack two positions on pit road. He lined up 16th for the restart on lap 99 and immediately claimed the 12th position. However, the loose condition persisted, restraining his forward progress as he ran 15th when the afternoon’s final yellow flew on lap 128. Mosack joined the rest of the leaders on pit road to take four tires for the final 14 circuits. His short run speed paid off as he advanced to 13th by the time the checkered flag waived.

Connor Mosack Quote:

“We struggled with being really loose for most of the day but really appreciate everyone on this team digging in and working on it. We made our Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Chevy better and was able to take advantage of the short run at the end. We can be proud of the fight today coming back from a lap down and were able to get back to the top-15.”
