Connor Mosack showed exceptional pace at Nashville Superspeedway (NSS) in the first half of Friday night’s event before finishing in 23rd position. The driver of the No. 81 NAPA Nightvision Chevrolet Silverado RST ran as high as eighth during the race’s second stage and is 20th in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series standings after 12 of 18 regular season events.

As weather washed out qualifying on Friday afternoon, Mosack started from 20th position after a 50-minute practice session. From the outset, the 26-year-old made consistent progress on the 1.33-mile track that makes passing unconventionally challenging. After restarting 20th on lap 11, Mosack advanced during the opening segment and ran 15th at the end of Stage 1 on lap 45.

The NAPA Nightvision team outfitted Mosack with four tires, fuel, and track bar and air pressure adjustments under the first stage caution to alleviate his tight handling condition. The adjustments were the right antidote as Mosack reported his rotation in the center of the corners was greatly improved when the race restarted. He made immediate ground to 11th on lap 55 and jumped to ninth on a restart at lap 61. Unfortunately, Mosack got extremely loose shortly thereafter in Turns 1 and 2 and lost track position. He ran out the balance of Stage 2 and was scored 19th on lap 95.

The No. 81 team gave Mosack a second set of fresh tires under the second stage caution for the final 47-lap run to the finish. While he restarted 17th on lap 104, a significantly tight condition on the last set of tires held him back from making another run towards the top-10 and ultimately took the checkered flag in 23rd position.

Connor Mosack Quote:

“We made really good gains on the balance after the first pit stop and got our NAPA Nightvision Chevy turning really well. I was able to be aggressive on that restart and got us into the top-10. Our balance just went really tight at the end. Not sure if it was that set of tires or what. Its unfortunate, because we had a lot of speed tonight.”
