Full Speedy Ahead … The 2022 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) champion is back to chase his first victory at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) on Friday night. Zane Smith returns to the seat of the No. 91 Chevrolet Silverado RST with Speedy Cash on board for the SpeedyCash.com 250. Smith most recently tallied a third-place finish in the No. 91 at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) in March for his best finish in two starts this season with MHR. His teammate Christian Eckes has won two of the last three NCTS events and Smith hopes to make that three of the last four for the MHR squadron.

Getting Closer … Smith has been inching towards victory lane in his two prior starts this season. He’s finished in the top-10 in both of his appearances, which began with an eighth-place effort at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 1st. The former champ and NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year contender has been a threat in each of his five prior starts at TMS. His best finish came in the fall of 2020 when he finished third and has led 38 laps in five races in “No Limits, Texas”.

Season to Date … Smith and crew chief Kevin Bellicourt have an opportunity to elevate the No. 91 team above the provisional cut line and into an owners’ points playoff position on Friday night. Smith and Jack Wood have tag-teamed the first six races and have the No. 91 squad in 11th position in the NCTS owners’ standings, seven points behind the 10th and final playoff position. The team’s best finish this season came at BMS when Smith captured a podium run and the duo have combined for an average finish of 15.2.

Zane Smith Quote:

On returning to Texas Motor Speedway for the SpeedyCash.com 250:

“These truck races have been fun with MHR and we have a big night ahead with SpeedyCash.com. It’s great to be back in the truck and hopefully we can continue the momentum Christian (Eckes) and the No. 19 team have had lately. It’d be great to run up front and get a win for everyone from Speedy Cash and try to get the weekend started off right. Our trucks have had some good speed in both races I’ve run, so hopefully we can build on that and be the truck to beat Friday night.”
