Wood Forced Into Late-Race Mayhem at Lime Rock

Venue: Lime Rock Park
FINISH: 22nd
Start: 34th
Laps Led: 0
NCTS Point Standings Position: 18th
Jack Wood, driver of the No. 91 Adaptive One Chevrolet had his work cut out for him for the LIUNA 150 at Lime Rock Park as he was forced to start the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) event from the rear due to an unapproved adjustment before qualifying. Starting in the 34th position, Wood wasted no time picking up spots as he was up to 30th by the second lap of the event and ticked off a few more for a 28th-place Stage One finish. Wood reported to his team under the stage break that he was overall just way to tight but did not feel he was lacking any drive off or stability in his race truck. Crew chief Kevin Bellicourt took his crew over the wall for their first timed pit stop of the day giving the young driver four fresh tires, fuel and a slight air pressure adjustment.
Wood cruised through the field on the restart of Stage Two and gained a few more spots as he was up to 25th by lap 50. A quiet stage led the driver of the No. 91 to settle in 25th to finish the second stage. The Loomis, Calif. native was still struggling with the same issues so the team made another stop for four tires, fuel and another slight air pressure adjustment to restart the closing laps of the Saturday afternoon event.
The young driver picked up two spots on the restart as he was setting his pace forward and found himself 22nd in line with 20 laps remaining in the 100-lap NCTS event. A caution with 11 laps to go allowed Wood to gain more spots as other competitors came down pit road under yellow. The young driver lined up 17th in the field to restart the closing laps of the LIUNA 150 with five to go. A gaggle of cars collided heading into Turn 1 on the restart and the No. 91 Chevrolet was forced backwards and relegated to a 22nd -place finish at Lime Rock.
Jack Wood Quote:
“This was a tough track to gain any track position, in all honesty. It is so narrow that you really had to keep your mistakes to a minimum or none or you would be forced backwards very quickly. Passing was difficult and that last restart really hurt us on the track position we had made up throughout those last couple of laps. Looking forward to this three-week break for this team to regain our focus and confidence and we will see what we can unload in Indiana in a couple weeks.”
